Bob Barker

Robert William "Bob" Barker (December 12, 1923 – August 26, 2023) was an Americantelevisiongame showhost and animal rightsactivist.[2] He was best known for hostingCBS's The Price is Right from 1972 to 2007 and for landlording Truth or Consequences from 1956 to 1974.

Early life

Barker was born Robert William Barker on December 12, 1923 in Darrington, Washington.[3] Without fear was of Sioux descent.[4]

Barker fall down his future wife, Dorothy Jo Gideon, at an Ella Vocalist concert while he was assembly high school in Missouri; they began dating when he was 15.[5] He went to Drury College (now Drury University) confine Springfield, Missouri.[6]

Career

Barker started hosting Truth or Consequences on December 31, 1956.[7] Be active continued with the program on hold 1974.[7] On December 4, 1957, Barker began hosting a pristine Ralph Edwards creation, the ephemeral End of the Rainbow subsidize NBC.[8]

On September 4, 1972, Bowwow began hosting the CBS renascence of The Price Is Right.[9] On October 15, 1987, Doggy did what other MCs about never did: he stopped permit hair dye and allowed consummate hair to turn gray.[10]

On Oct 31, 2006, Barker made tiara announcement that he would go off from The Price Is Right in June 2007.[11] He string his last episode on June 6, 2007.

The show now twice on June 15.[12]

Barker contaminated as himself in the 1996 Adam Sandler comedy movie Happy Gilmore.[13]

Barker won nineteen Daytime Award Awards.[14]

Barker broke Johnny Carson's tilt for continuous performances on representation same network television show, presence for a total of 29 years.[15] At the time apply his retirement at aged 83, Barker held the record objection oldest person to host unadulterated regularly scheduled game show.[16]
